Administrative Assistant

The University of Vermont (UVM) seeks an Administrative Assistant for the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program. With funding from the USDA, Northeast SARE administers 7 competitive grant programs for farmers, researchers, educators, graduate students, and others in the 12 Northeast states (Maine to West Virginia) and D.C., with a current annual budget of $10 million. The program has been hosted by UVM since 1988.


The person in this position will review and process invoices and service agreements, enter financial data, update and maintain spreadsheets, collect, prepare, format, and distribute documents, schedule meetings, assist with meeting logistics, and take minutes at a variety of meetings. Travel to and from worksites and some non-standard work hours required.

Associate degree plus one to three years of related office experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required. This is a 12- month, full-time position, eligible for University benefits. Position will be located in the South Burlington Extension Office and is eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement in accordance with the university telecommuting policy

Office Manager and Contract Lead


The Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program seeks an Office Manager & Contract Lead.

About Northeast SARE


Northeast SARE is a USDA grant-making program hosted by the University of Vermont (UVM). Northeast SARE currently coordinates seven competitive grant programs offered to educators, farmers, graduate students and scientists in 12 states and Washington DC. Responsibilities of the Position

This position provides comprehensive administrative, contracting, and operational support for the Northeast SARE program. The role coordinates grantee subaward contracting in compliance with USDA/NIFA and UVM requirements, maintains grant documentation and databases, and supports program communications and reporting.

Including:
· Planning and managing large meetings and events
· Overseeing administrative budgets and office operations
· Training and supporting staff in contracting and administrative procedures
· Functionally supervise Northeast SARE’s Administrative Assistant
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of related administrative experience required.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize project deliverables.
· Familiarity with standard office business applications, including Excel, Word Processing, and Outlook.
· Effective communication and organizational skills required.
Compensation and Logistics
This is a 12-month, 1.0 FTE position, with a robust benefits package. The salary range for this position is $25-30/hour, depending on candidate experience. This position is hybrid and can be housed at any UVM Extension office across the state where space is available.
