Juliet Glass of the Maryland Farmers' Market Association created this social media toolkit for farmers, based on the work she conducted through a Northeast SARE Partnership Grant. Glass worked with four Maryland farms to audit their social media channels and make concrete suggestions on how they could improve their social media use to expand their customer base and engage farm product consumers.
The guide is meant to support farmers and agricultural producers as they navigate social media platforms to increase farm sales and customer base through online marketing.
The guide starts with a glossary of common terms used in social media.
It provides tips on how to choose a social media platform for online marketing, shares information on how to create consistent profiles across platforms, and provides a social media posting guide.
The toolkit also shares information on how and when to use Instagram versus Facebook.
